Bountiful Market

We are officially half-way through the 2014 Manistique Farmers’ Market, and the variety and quantity of produce coming to Market each week is increasing. For the Market tomorrow (Wednesday, July 23, 2014; 4-6pm at Little Bear West Arena) we are expecting: Green Beans, Yellow Wax Beans, Kale, Cabbage, Rhubarb, Kohlrabi, Carrots, Cucumbers,  Beets, Romaine Lettuce (and other lettuces), Sugar Snap Peas, the first Zucchini of the season, Strawberries (may be the last week for strawberries),Fresh Lake Michigan Whitefish, Beef, Eggs, Ground Flours, Variety of breads, jams, cookies, chocolates, and some fresh wild blueberry pie. Yesterday we learned that Healthier Michigan had included the Manistique Farmers’ Market on a short list of the best Markets in the State. The Manistique Farmers’ Market Opens Today – 5.14.14

Finally, opening day has arrived! There is snow in the forecast tomorrow, but today will have some sunshine and a high of 53 degrees and little wind. We will be setting up the canopies and ringing the Market bell at 4pm today. Come join us and shake off the winter blues. Please also remember that Farmers’ Market product availability is dependent on local agriculture conditions – winter has been determined not to leave and spring has been slow in arriving.
